Project Assurance Officer - SC Cleared - Contract Rate: £325 per day Duration: 6 months Location: Hybrid - Milton Keynes IR35: Inside The role:A Government organisation is seeking an SC Cleared Project Assurance Officer to provide independent assurance across a major transformation programme. Working within the PMO, you will ensure projects adhere to governance standards, delivery frameworks, and assurance requirements, providing confidence that programmes are being delivered in line with agreed scope, time, cost, quality, and risk objectives. You will work closely with Project Managers, PMO leads, and senior stakeholders to carry out assurance activities, monitor project health, identify delivery risks, and drive continuous improvement across the portfolio.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct project assurance reviews, health checks, and stage gate assessments across multiple projects.Provide independent oversight of project governance, controls, and compliance with PMO standards.Review project documentation to ensure quality, completeness, and alignment with governance requirements.Monitor project health through assurance reporting, identifying emerging risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery concerns.Maintain assurance logs, RAID registers, action trackers, and governance documentation.Produce assurance reports, dashboards, KPIs, and management information for senior stakeholders.Support internal and external assurance reviews, audits, and governance forums.Challenge project teams where appropriate to improve delivery controls, governance, and adherence to best practice.Support the continuous improvement of assurance processes, governance frameworks, and PMO standards.Work collaboratively with Project Managers and PMO teams to promote consistent project controls and effective risk management.Skills & ExperienceExperience working in a Project Assurance, PMO Assurance, Portfolio Assurance, or Project Controls environment.Strong understanding of project governance, assurance methodologies, and project lifecycle controls.Experience conducting project health checks, assurance reviews, or governance assessments.Knowledge of RAID management, project controls, reporting, and assurance documentation.Experience producing management information, dashboards, KPIs, and assurance reporting.Strong analytical skills with the confidence to challenge constructively and provide objective assurance.Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.Experience within Government or highly regulated environments is desirable.Active SC Clearance is required, or candidates must be eligible to obtain SC Clearance.If you are available and interested, please apply in the first instance and a member of the team will be in touch to discuss the opportunity further.
