Automation Test Engineer Salary: Up to £70,000 + Bonus + Benefits Location: Newcastle, London, Leeds, Manchester, Blackpool or Sheffield Working Hours: 40 hours per weekA globally recognised organisation is looking for an experienced Automation Test Engineer to help deliver secure, reliable and high-quality digital services across major public sector transformation programmes.This is an exciting opportunity to join Agile engineering teams building cloud native applications using modern test automation practices. The Automation Test Engineer will play a key role in embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle, working across UI, API, accessibility and performance testing while supporting continuous delivery at enterprise scale.Responsibilities for the Automation Test Engineer:Design, develop and maintain scalable UI and API automation frameworksBuild automated test suites using Java, Selenium, REST Assured and Cucumber BDDDevelop and execute functional, regression, integration and end to end automated testsPerform UI automation using Selenium WebDriver and PlaywrightCarry out API testing using REST Assured, Postman and SwaggerConduct accessibility testing to ensure compliance with WCAG standardsSupport CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing throughout the development lifecycleWork closely with developers, DevOps engineers, Business Analysts and Product OwnersContribute to performance and load testing using K6Support testing across AWS cloud environments and event driven architecturesEssential Skills for the Automation Test Engineer:Strong commercial experience with Java based test automationHands on experience with Selenium WebDriver, REST Assured, Playwright and Cucumber BDDExperience building and maintaining automation frameworks from scratchStrong knowledge of UI and API automation best practicesExperience testing REST APIs using Postman, Swagger and JSON/XML validationExperience across the full software testing lifecycleKnowledge of accessibility testing using tools such as WAVE, AXE DevTools and VoiceOverExperience with CI/CD pipelines, Git and MavenKnowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and JiraExposure to AWS cloud technologies and KafkaDesirable Skills for the Automation Test Engineer:Experience testing cloud native and distributed systemsKnowledge of contract testing methodologiesExperience working within UK Public Sector or large enterprise environmentsPerformance testing experience using K6Strong analytical and troubleshooting skillsIf you are interested in this Automation Test Engineer vacancy, please apply in the immediate instance.
