Location: Hybrid / Liverpool

Duration: 6 months

The role:

A leading Public Sector client are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer. The role involves shaping and maintaining a modern cloud infrastructure that supports critical applications across customer, supplier, and internal platforms

This is an initial 6-month contract, requiring up to 2 days per week in Liverpool.

Experience Requirements:

  • Cloud Platforms: Proven experience with AWS and Azure.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Advanced proficiency with Terraform.
  • Containerisation & Orchestration: Deep understanding of Docker and Kubernetes (ECS / EKS).
  • Continuous Integration / Delivery: Skilled in managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Programming: Working knowledge of Go, Python, and JavaScript for automation and tooling.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and operational support of secure, scalable web services.
  • Champion automation across deployment, configuration, and monitoring processes.
  • Govern and optimise multi-environment infrastructure using code-driven approaches.
  • Develop robust internal tools and frameworks to enhance infrastructure reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed DevOps principles and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

This covers corporate accounts, virtual accounts, escrow, and cash and liquidity management, the foundational layer that every other product in the build depends on. This is genuine hands-on product ownership, not project management or transformation advisory.We're looking for someone who has owned a banking or fintech product 0-to-1 or through a major re-platform, and who can translate domain input from experts into structured requirements engineers can actually build from.About the role:Own the roadmap for corporate accounts, virtual accounts, escrow, and cash and liquidity managementDrive the BRD/PRD process end to end, including process flows, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteriaDesign the business logic behind how products work: sequencing, data, decisions, and customer experienceWork across Tech, Ops, Risk, Compliance, and Treasury to resolve dependencies and unblock deliveryOwn stakeholder communication, presenting progress and flagging risk at steering committee levelSupport colleagues across other product pods with requirements craft and delivery discipline About you:8-12+ years' experience, having owned a digital product 0-to-1 or through a major re-platform at a bank or fintech, as a Product Owner or technical/digital owner, not a project managerAble to run a BRD/PRD process personally, comfortable with epics, user stories, and cross-functional sign-offExperience working across Tech, Ops, Risk, and Compliance in a banking or fintech contextConfident presenting to and challenging senior stakeholdersBackground in transaction banking, corporate accounts, cash and liquidity, or payments is a strong plus, though deep domain expertise isn't requiredComfortable with modern build approaches: cloud-native, API-first, event-driven architecture

You will provide pragmatic advice on GDPR, privacy risks and data sharing, helping delivery teams navigate complex requirements while maintaining compliance.
