We are looking for an AWS Security Engineer who will work within the security team alongside AWS Architects, Security Architects on a large Cloud migration program. The AWS Security Engineer will support and guide the implementation of security initiatives to improve the overall security within the programme of work.
Role and Responsibilities of the AWS Security Engineer:
* Responsibilities of the AWS Security Engineer include having a strong understanding of AWS architecture best practices and best-in-class security standards, as well as building, maintaining, upgrading, and continuously improving security of cloud networks and cloud-based systems. The AWS Security Engineer is also responsible for ensuring that the cloud infrastructure, platform, and software operate in a secure manner. * Additionally, the AWS Security Engineer is expected to review relevant Cyber Risk alerts/notifications and MODCERT notices, assess the impact and vulnerability of the SCIP solution, and define actions to take. They will work with technical teams to implement mitigating solutions within required timeframes. The role also involves writing knowledge base articles for threat intelligence and threat detection documentation. * The AWS Security Engineer is responsible for reviewing High and Low Level Design and reviewing RMADs to create risk registers.
Essential Technical and Professional Expertise Required by AWS Security Engineer:
* Experience securing AWS/Azure workloads and managing security controls for AWS/Azure * Experience designing and implementing security controls and best practices * AWS/Azure Certifications * IT related Degree e.g. Computer Science
Clearance Required:
The ideal person will have worked in an enterprise environment and have been responsible for the security aspects of an AWS environment. As this role is working closely with the MOD you'll need to be eligible to undergo security clearance which means you'll need to be a British Passport holder and ideally have been in the UK for at least 5 years.
